Strange!! pinto cambelt tracking

Anyone come across this before????

I was going to take car for short blat yesterday and noticed the cam belt was badly scored right round (i suspect bit of gravel has been trapped). So i got new belt and fitted it this afternoon.

I was always a little worried when i fitted the last belt as it always ran 5mm ish off the front of the cam pulley. I thought this was due to missing off the curved washer from the front side of the crank pulley. I re-fitted this today but now the belt is running approx 2mm off the back of the cam pulley (and therefore close ish to the rocker cover).
Only other observation i made today was one of the tensioner bolts wasnt as tight as i thought it should be. Could the tensioner cause tracking issues? i tried rotating by hand and pushing the belt over to middle position but as soon as i fired it up it moved over (same as last time but then it moved to outside edge, now inside edge!).

Very strange to me but maybe someone knows the fix.

(before someone says i should fit the belt cover - yes i agree but easier said than done when you have a retro fitted mjlj trigger wheel and VR sensor fitted).

Cheers,
Darren.

mine runs maybe 3mm off the bottom pully
guess its down to manufacturing tolerances, and play in the adjuster??

as long as it stays there you are ok!!

Been and had a look the cam belt is right at the back on the cam pulley showing about 5-6mm at the front
its dead center on the pulley that dirves the dizzy and center of the tension wheel

Im not too bothered about it running more to one side, and after the change its more on the teeth than before which is good, just curious why it would run one side and now the other.

Maybe its the belt design itself and partly to do with re-setting the tensioner. Ill just settle for keeping an eye on it for a while then leaving it be. Maybe i was just lucky that the other engine ran almost true.
