Fitting/Cutting Petrol line hose
Hi Everyone,
Just installing my new tank (cheers Welderman ) and it's all in apart from the fuel feed hose. It's the type with the steel braid around
it and I can't find anything that'll cut it! What do I need to get a good clean cut? Also what's the best method of actually getting
the hose onto the outlet pipe of the tank? Seems a bit of a tight fit, is there some tried and trusted method I can use?
Cheers
Dave

Would have thought a junior hacksaw would go through it.

Try a 1mm slitting disc in the angry grinder. Wrap some tape around the pipe to stop the wires getting all messy and slice away!
Just make sure you clean the pipe afterwards!

that is exactly the way I do it. the grinding disc is gentle on the strands but wear eye proetection as the littel bits of wire can get flung
about.
VWP send rubber end fittings, will fit 6 amd 8 mm braided hose. The 8 mm is a very tight fit and unless you know the secret methods, you are
unlikley to get it in.
the scret method is to use a rectangular plastic piece from a milk or pop bottle, make it into a cone and fit into the end piece. You can then push
the hose end inside the conewithout the strands catching. The cone cnathen be removed.
Be also aware that the strand can poke through the end piece and into your fingers - don;t ask how I found that out.
