Zetec / Type 9 starter help!

Hi!,
recently bought a type 9 > Zetec starter but have found that the depth to the flywheel is less than that to the end of the starter sproket.. Anyone got any ideas? I have a dunnell lightened flywheel fitted to an ST170 engine.

thanks

What starter have you got ?

the one you want ( I think) is from a sierra/granada 2LDohc or the 1.8l cvh sierra. The first will be longer and thiner in the body which may be easier to get next to the sump.

I have to say I know little of the ST170 but the bottom end should be the same as a Zetec.

Just measured my 2LDohc starter and this is how it compares .

I'm using type 9/Zetec and using the 1.8 CVH starter.

[Pase3 Zetec / MT75 Starter - Sorted

Sorted at last, A QS1221 starter from QX Components, www.qxcomponents.co.uk still lots to grind off I've about 1mm clearance, but its clearance.
I got change out of £55 including next day delivery, a really helpful company well worth a try
A few pics in my archive, a bit big, but this does work, it isn't theory.
