95 Zetec - bike carbs or injection SVA?
I have just bought a 95 sliver top zetec.
Bike carbs seems the cheapest way to get this running but I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that you can't get carbs through the
emissions test at SVA?
i need advice on where to go from here locost is definately required!
Thanks
Mike

Do you know what month the engine is from as the SVA requirements are much tougher for August 95 engines onwards. You will need a Cat for the later
engines but may well be ok with bike carbs anyway if they are set up properly.

Pre August 95 is OK with bike carbs.
My 1.8 zetec was from a 95 N reg Escort and when I sent the engine number to Ford they gave the date as Feb 95 which was earlier than the reg date.
After 08-95 you need a cat.......

Just checked my engine number looks like its has SS which according to zetec-cat.co.uk should be July 95! Could just be in by one month. How did you
go to at FORD to get a verification of the date. If it is ok I'll go bike carbs and megajolt an no CAT, would be nice to have a bit of luck!

Info is on the same site there. When i sent mine off (8 years ago!!!), i didnt send it to anyone in particular - just the department at the address
below.
Quote "For SVA purposes, you will require written proof of the date of engine manufacture. To obtain this, either send a letter or a fax,
including the engine type and engine number to the Ford Technical Information Centre at the following address:
Technical Information Centre
Ford Motor Company
PO Box 300
Walsall
WS5 4QH
Fax: 01922 725 266 "
