Sell the crossflow and T9 and stick a bike engine in it.

Engine replacement is pretty easy and can be quite cheap. You can end up spending loads so think what engine you want and get as much info as you can on parts prices ect then just go for it.

Or even the twin 40 Dellorto'd Pinto Engine with a hot cam, that sits in my garage

X-Flow is a nice engine and plenty of tuning bits about for it.

Decide what you want, acceleration, economy, outright power etc.
Decide how you will drive it, ie on the roads on a sunday afternoon, Long trips up and down country, Track Days, and then the % of each requirement.
Then decide.

If you go bike Engine, and this is a good option for pure acceleration, dont forget to factor in either a reverse gear mechanism, or having to get out and push it backwards.

Its your choice, and depends on what you want to do.

The westie with a 1600X-flow will be good fun, try it and see for a while before spending more money.

PS.. you can always change the engine later.. The westie is a good platform to start on, so you should'nt go far wrong as long as its in reasonable condition.

Thats the beauty of kit cars.... you can change them into whatever you want with a little imagination and some work

PPS... If you want a real beast... you can have my V8 Viento. (Seriously)

standard 1600 GT gives around 85 bhp.

putting in hotter cam, twin 40s, should see something approaching 100. - cost about £ 200 or less if you look around/ebay.

you would then need to get head work, bored out to 1700 or more so for another couple hundred more., should see 120.

then it starts to get expensive - more head work, extreme cams etc.

if you have the space then a 2.0 zetc would set you back the same amount and you have at least 130 bhp.
