type 9 gearbox chopping input shaft?

So, can I just chop the input shaft of the v6 type to fit against my zetec? Do I use the 4pot type bellhousing or the v6 one.
Or does the input shaft need machining for the spigot bearing?
Just a thought.......

Machine a spacer 30mm thick to fit between the bellhousing and the gearbox and leave the input shaft alone. Caterham sell them for about 80 quid.

Would it be any good selling it to someone wanting to use a V6 & getting a 4cyl one? You'd think if the V6 ones are different then there'll be folk wanting them to use with engines in Capris etc, you might even make money!

different gear ratios. Also wondering about the bellhousing, I think v6 stuff have ally ones
My 4pot one is ok, but does leak a little oil. Somebody suggested a v6 version and angle grinding the input shaft Surely it cant be that simple?

It might be worth giving Brian Hill a ring at BGH Geartech for the definitive answer.

I suspect they meant cutting off the end of the shaft and grinding down the shaft to form another spigot. If using a needle roller spigot bearing this would need to be done with some precision.

You can't just chop the spigot off and hope for the best. Well, you can obvioulsy, but it won't work very well.
