Pinto Oil type post build

Well I collected my sump today from the Welder (He's done a fantatsic job..)
So I want to know what oils I should put in the engine ?

Sounds obvious I know but there are several schools of thought..

1, any old cheap crap - coz it will be replaced after a very short time
2, good oil because the engine needs the most protection when it is run for the first time
3, thicker oil for the same reasons as @ 2
4, thinner oil for the same reasons as @ 2

I'm confused

But I am tending towards answer 1 and going for a thicker oil then changing oil after a very short time....

Personally I ran my rebuilt Pinto in on Motaquip 15w/40 bog basic oil from the motor factors. Oil and filter change after the 1st 500 miles and again at 1k miles. All seems to be good so far and it's not costing a fortune either.

yeah you want to buy a cheap oil to drain away soon, so it carries out any dust, sludge from the overhaul, then use a good oil for running it in...

i bought mobil1 0w60 oil. £40 for 5L so i got the expensive oil first...
