1.4 16V Ecotec - Water Pump Alignment

Can anybody help me understand where the alignment marks are on the above mentioned engine/water pump, because I can't see any and am completely baffled. I believe it is the same one fitted to 1.6 also.

Haynes manual mentions them but no picture, Vauxhall 'TIS' even gives a couple of illustrations but still doesn't make sense.

Any advice gratefully received, and if anyone has any pictures that would be fantastic.

Cheers, Andy

I'm sure I've worked on the ecotec before, don't you just rotate the pump till the belts the right tension? I think there is a specified defection in the manual and don't remember using any marks. Something like 30 degs possible twist in the centre.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

All the documentation I have states that you adjust the cambelt tension, by the tensioner and to do this the water pump must be in its correct location (if only I knew what it was). This is also mentioned in the link you posted. I have not seen any mention of cambelt deflection 'value'.
Unfortunatly in my haste to remove the orginal I forgot to put any markings on.

you'll have to clean it down really well, the mark may be the size of nothing, most likey a punched dot.

drawing a blank from the web
