Air box clearance?

I have built an airbox for my ZX9R carbs and in order to get it under the bonnet there is not much clearance form the carb trumpets to the back of the box.

There is about 40mm clearance at the front which widens out to 70mm at the back.

I'm feeding the box via a remote air filter and cold air input at the front of the nose cone, so the air will be forced depending on speed.

Its about the same size as a Pipercross sausage filter but begin enclosed will it work OK?

You generally want at least your choke diameter between the bellmouth of the trumpet and the air-box "top piece". It's a rough rule of thumb, but it would suggest 40mm should be just about okay...
