Midi Exhaust
I have a mid engined car and need advice on how to package the exhaust into a short length.
My exhaust needs a tuned lencth of around 30" primary plus 30" tailpipe which is challenging but possible if the silencer is included in
the tailpipe.
However the tuning book I'm using states the tailpipe tuned length stops at the start of the silencer. How come I wonder?
After all the silencer is just a straight pipe with perforations round it! Could it be that the silencer absorbs the pulse waves or that the volume of
the silencer acts as if it was the open air and causes a premature reflection?
Either way it is damn near impossible to package a total length of 60" of pipe plus 20" of silencer.
Currently I am running with 20" primaries and 12" tailpipe before the silencer and there is a distinct lack of torque.
HAny suggestions?

Maybe the TVR way first run it forward to the collectors, the go back to the rear of the car. gives you twice the length to fit something than the
normal straight back system.
also how are the pipes in the collector, you don't want the the normal 4cyl set-up 1-4 stacked next to 2-3 stacked. they need to be 1-2 stacked
next to 3-4 stacked per collector per bank. even better go full 180 degrees headers but I doubt you'll have spave to do that. all this depends
on the firing order offcourse and I have asumed it's the normal 18436572 way?
what peak torque ?RPM? are you after?
