Bad day and not happy about it

Hi all,

folowing on from yesterday when I found 3 litres of oil on the grage floor anf a holed sump.

I spent today removing the sump, which is a bathcube of a job on the crossflow, repaired it, and refitted it woth a nwe gasket set, went out for a drive, and the clutch felt odd, so pulled over to check, and notied oil dripping from the back of the sump and the front of the box, I suspect the rear seal int fitted properly, and has now pissed oil into the clutch and starter motor.

unless there are any other suggestions like I over filled it?

either way i think it's an engine out job to check.

So does anyone have a engine hoist they want to loan out for a fw beer tokens?

Are you sure the gastek is fitted ok?

Also check the oil breather pipes aren't blocked as that often forces oil out through the seals and blows out gaskets.

or raise the car and lower the engine out, that's what I did, much safer. I just put blocks under the engine, took of the engine mounts and jacked the chassis up. It's so light then that two people can just swing the car to the side. Fitting is just the reverse.

Nib, I also have one, although it is a bit on the large side and might need a top up of jack oil as it has a leaking seal when not in use.
