Any CVH experts?
Hi Guys
I presently run a K-plate 1600CVH Sierra as my tin-top. I have no real point of reference but I'm sure it's not right. It seems to run
far too rich, doesn't pull cleanly and the MPG is a pathetic 21mpg!
I've read the Haynes book of words and it seems to suggest that everything is run off sensors feeding the EEC IV ECU so there's no other
way to adjust the mixture. Can any issues by diagnosed?
Any help gratefully received.

does it have a lamba sensor? If they stop working it will put the mixture out.
Faulty temp sensor can also make it run rich as it thinks the engine needs more fuel, like a carbs choke setting

1.6? sure its not a 1.8
If its defo 1.6 it will be well tired and the pathetic mpg will be cause its struggling to pull 2 tons of fat Sierra around!

If it was my car I'd have tossed the fuel injection in the bin long ago and stuck on a nice duel choke webber, there only about 100 quid new.

CVH's had a nasty habit of bunging up all their oil breather ways with gunge, would suggest cleaning all upper & lower breathers out as this
can completely throw mixture off particularly at idle. Assuming it's got a CAT which it should have at that age most likely culprit is a
knackered lambda sensor (possibly caused by passing oil across it - back to the breather problem!). They also suffered with TPS getting worn track.
Get a MoT garage to bung it on their 4 gas & see what's coming out of the back. The car should be capable of aroud 30 - 35 on a run, 25 - 30
round town. HTH
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

Good shout that. The Haynes talks about the seal for the thermostat. What does it look like? WIll it be a dealer-only part?
