Never tried it but guess you should be able to do it if you have a hoist and can get the engine roughly level.

take the spinning bit out of the stand (the bit that mounts to the block), mount that to your engine, then either crane it, or if it's bare block, lift it back into the stand frame.

istr that's how i did it with my clarke one.

This is the same way I've done it before - works a treat.

I guess it depends on the stand. On mine, the bit that bolts to the block and allows the engine to be turned over, actually slides out of the bracket on the stand.

The bracket can be bolted on to the block whilst it is on the floor and then it should be relatively easy to lift the block and pop it into the stand.

Unless it is a fully built engine in which case you will need your crane

Cheers

Mark

with great difficulty?

are you intending to split the engine? you should just about be able to lift a block and crank if you've taken the head off first.

if not, it's time to call on your burliest mates or hire a crane. about a tenner for a weekend.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

take the spinny bit off your stand and bolt to the engine.

If you try and pick up the lump and stick back in the hole you will struggle, so with the engine on the ground fit the stand on its side, now lift it up, ie place the stand on its feet.

But best done with a mate!

You can do it on your own, but it's a lot more fun with someone else...

Steve

Oh - bolt the face-plate to the engine and then lay the stand on it's side bottom to the wall, insert the rotating stem bit (), lock in place and then pick it up!

i put the plate on the block but couldnt get the pin through the stand and into the backplate as its got a thread.

i think the burly mate (STEVE) or fix it all up on the floor and the lift is the best idea

Theres locost and theres stupid
Dont risk hurting yourself or others or even worse damaging a perfectly good engine by not borrowing or hireing a hoist
