Anyone bought a PiperX 600 ITB Airbox?

Like this:

http://www.pipercross.net/newsletters/600airbox_0405/

Thinking about it for my injected R1 to:

a) lower noise for trackdays
b) maybe give more power as will be able to run decent cold air feeds to it via a NACA duct or bell mouths where the indicators go (on the Fury classic bonnet but I think they are too low for SVA?).

If going this route also need to find some kind of air feed Y-piece to take 2 airfeeds (somewhere between 65 and 75mm) into one 75 or 100 mm pipe going into the airbox.

I know AB Performance make (for the Fireblade at least) an airbox but its about twice the price and I think it would need me to cut my bonnet for it to fit whereas I think I can sneak this one under.

Anyone bought one of these then? Happy with it? Manage to get it any cheaper than ~£200...?

Yes, just bought one.

Took moments to fit. Spray the ready fitted cone filter with dirt retention spray (supplied). Fix the 100mm dia flexy pipe to it (supplied) to the end of it (using the supplied jubilee clip). 3 Dzus catches to undo the foam filter, 3 to do up the new airbox. Then just attach the hose somewhere.

It's also completely removable in the less time!

No, couldn't find anyone supplying off the shelf for less than £200!

Didn't get thrown off at Bruntingthorpe on Saturday so it must have worked.

At some point I'll do some back to back testing on it (but probably at someone elses house!)

As far as ducting the air I'm pretty sure 100mm is a standard ventilation ductwork size, so fittings should be available inc Y junctions etc.

HTH

What engine / carbs / TB's are you running?

Got any photos of it fitted?

So it actually a cone filter on the end of the airbox then the pipe attaches to that?

Never found a photo of the filter itself so interested to see it fully assembled.

I can't fit a 100mm pipe or should I say 2x 100mm bell mouths through my bumper without mullering it.

I know a lot of the RGB cars run a similar setup (but not seen this airbox in use with them but its been a while since I've watched them) and they don't mind hacking big holes in their body work etc

So I'm more like 65 to 75mm. If I can get a 100mm to 65 or 75mm reducer then I can run 2x100mm pipe to a 100m Y-pipe then 100mm into the airbox...

Did you tweak your carbs after fitting?
