sump, ally or steel?
can anyone tell me a quick way of checking if my sum is ally or steel? Steel not a problem as can weld that up fine (chopping an inch or so out of
it). BUt ally would be a problem.
Also it doesnt look like mine has any baffling system at all, any easy way of making some up? how bad could if cornering/braking to hard?
Cheers

hhmmm but it is possible! interesting might have to give it a go! plus the sump is quite thick so mabye that will help reduce the chance of me blowing
a hole!

Migging ally just needs a bit of practice.
The secret is VERY clean ally, a high wire feed rate & pure argon gas.

while your getting some ally to weld on, get some nice thick (really thick) brass to clamp behind the weld to take the heat away

I cut a few litres out of my sump and paid a guy a tenner to weld it up for me. I turned up outside a fabrication shop and asked who was the ally
welding guy. Since then I've made good chums with them and got tons of free stainless off cuts from them...
Cut....
and shut...

I prepped it all myself but as I didn't have any teflon liner in my MIG, I didn't bother trying to weld with ally!!
