bike carbs on pinto
Hi All,
need help, i have bike carbs on a 2,1 pinto, with 285cam,
problems is fuel consumption, 15 MPG!!!!!
cant cope with that, had them set by bogg bros, carbs are gsxr600, srads, is this the expected consumption or could they be set up incorrectly??,
if i cant sort this will be going back to the dgas, and getting 25-30mpg and a little slower to 60

supposed to be yes, was same on normal dizzy, got 118 miles to 30 litres on dizzy,
last week 108 on megajolt, (was a little quicker though).
i expected a little thirsty on a blat, but not 60% less mpg.

Hi i have a piper 285 cam- zx9r carbs and i get about 30mpg on a steady run about 60-70mph but thrash it and the consumption goes to about 20mpg
i must say i don't check that close it would slow me down

i didnt until i started running out, used to get 150-170 to tank, (30ltr),
lucky to get 120 now, even on a long steady run.
if i could get it to 140 i would be a lot happier, it doesnt feel that much quicker than with dgas, but does rev higher and pulls well.

I don't know about the vacuum part but i don't think that will help i do know i had to buy a dizzy with no vacuum so not to upset the
carbs
Some people say they can do the dizzy with a vacuum take off from all the manifold pipes
Why not ring boggs and ask there opinion?

Is your fuel pump running too much pressure and pouring your fuel away by forcing past the needle valves?
I get good MPG with my R1 carbs.
Are you a Mac user or a retard?

All I'm saying is this-
lots of problems with bike carbs on car engines occur because of using car fuel pumps....

You've given two different MPG readings for the Dizzy and the Megajolt..
How well is the Megajolt set-up?
There could be big improvements to come from there if its only got basic 2D map settings in it.

it does need fine tuning, anyone got a decent map there happy with? i could try out.
expected more on dizzy to though, it was tuned on the dizzy,
just ordered a lambda bung for ex,
friend has a box of tricks that can see when/where its fuelings at.

Ive never checked consumption after putting the bike carbs on but im sure its no worse than the 38DGAS i was using before and that got 24 ish on a
run.
As Jacko says - im expecting around 30 tops on the run to Newark next weekend.
