Flipping gear levers!!! SNAP!
Spent all week making my gear linkage better until i get some time off to make some paddles.
Now seems to have much better aligned rose joints etc...
BUT out 2nite, 1st into 2nd and the bloody lever snapped of the pivot. Is there anything i can do when getting welded up to make it stronger, gussets
etc?
Im guessing i can just get the horizontal part of the pivot grinded back and then weld the rod back on again with a quick tidy up?
Lets just hope theres somewhere with 5 mins free tomo in order to fix it!

How to strengthen it?
Thats going to depend on the failiure mode of the existing one...
Figure out where the forces are comming from, and where the material has failed and then design around that..
Its not a duff weld is it?....Simply failed on the weld?

I don't think many people can make suggestions unless they happen to know the details of your installation or you post a picture of the failed
part.

I worked out how it broke, it was just thin 20mm tubing and it isnt really up to the job, the weld held perfectly.
However i dropped it into a mate today who has repaired it until i can build the paddles, will post a pic later incase anyone else thinks they might
strenghten theirs.
Still missing the odd gear, its either the box (AGAIN!) or me... so maybe a flatshifter will erase me and then i'll know where i stand!
