Removing the R1 5JJ AIS
Morning all,
Just searching for info here regarding removal of the AIS system on the 2001 Yamaha R1 but not found all the answers yet.
The AIS feeds air to the 4 exhaust ports whcih need blocking but whats the best way to do this?? I assume its gonna get hot there??
Also, there is a pipe feeding around to the carburettor joint of cyclinder 1 - does this simply need blocking up also??

Why remove it?
It reduces start up emmissions and once the engine is warm, closes and is no longer part of the system.

Just to save a little extra weight and simplify matters slightly. There is no SVA to worry about as the car was previously registered with a x-flow on
a Q-plate. Removing it also looks like it will make access to the oil filter simpler.

I just removed mine and then the four l shaped tubes where the perfect size for tapping to m8 i think and put a bolt in each to seal them up. No
problems so far but not been fully tested yet.

Yup - same as mine although I bought it like that from a Jedi racer!
ETA that it's not Anakin Skywalker.
