Zetec 1.8 & 2.0 differences.
If you have a 1.8 and a 2.0 Zetec Silvertop what are the major differences besides the CC.
I am asking this because a have a Dunnell injection system which comes of a 2.0 Silvertop engine, but i have a 1.8 Silvertop engine and i was
wondering if this wil work without problems or do i have to get a 2.0?
Thanx.

Yes it will work but you will need to send the ecu back to Dunnell for a remap.

see Burton web site for more info
http://www.burtonpower.com/technical_1/zetec_e.aspx
the 1800 and 2000 are basically the same engine in principal and see no reason why it wont work apart may need a remap of the ECU depending on level
of tune of your 1800.

So if i get it correct i don't need a remap if i can find a similar 2.0 where the system came off.
But what if i get a new 2.0 Blacktop Zetec do i need t o get a remap than?

form Dunnell web site
http://www.dunnellengines.com/zetec_inj_optionkits_4.php
if you know what spec the engine with the kit fitted to orignally you should be able to mirror it but if you don't know it should be that the
base map is at least close enough to run the engine and then get it checked set up on a RR, what size are the throttle bodies? the basic ki should be
ok for 1.8/2 silver or black top

Ive just changed a 1.8 silvertop for a 2.0 blacktop and all i did was reset the required fuel constant. It runs and drives ok but I will remap it now
its running and on the road again.

There are some small differences even between 1.8's. Block is slightly different between Escort 1.8 and Mondeo 1.8 but nothing to worry about.
Mondeo sump is much deeper than the Escort one and the water pump goes the wrong way.. also 2.0L flywheel is HUGE and doesn't fit behind a type
9 bellhousing.
So, 2.0L engine needs 1.8 Escort sump (or blacktop one cut down) 1.8 flywheel and clutch (Capri release bearing) and a Escort water pump unless you
can run the belt with a roller.

also the dunnell engine will or may have had a flowed head more than likely had cams, higher compression pistons lightened and ballanced etc so the
map and or size of throttle bodys may be all wrong
some people dream of sucsess, others just get on and do it !!

@tootal: the Dunnell set came of a standard 2.0 Zetec Silvertop.
But did Ford use the same connections on the sensors on a Silvertop and the newer Blacktop???
Or did they use completly new/other sensors with different connectors.
