Mondeo Zetec -------> Locost??

Hey all, was at the scrapper today and was told i can fit a zetec from a mondeo to a sierra gearbox, therefore making it run my locost. Is this try? If so wat parts do i need to make it work?
Cheers

it cost me about £700, not including the engine. I am sure there are others that have done it for much less, and others that spent a lot more. Good fun though once it all bolts together and gets out on the road.

I wouldn't take that list of prices as a good example, as said people do it for a lot less. The sums for fitting a zetec work out well only if you want more power than about 130BHP, up to that point a standard Pinto is the easy option. If you start to tune the Pinto and have it rebuilt the cost for carbs etc make it cost the same as the zetec, which in most cases can be fitted without rebuilding and will give 160BHP just by fitting Webers. What you do get is a reliable modern engine that can be tuned easily to 200+ BHP and rev to 7500RPM without touching the crank/pistons. This could be said of a lot of modern multivalve engines. Real cost works out between £1300-£2000 depending on spec.
