Help! It won't stop!!!
Hi, just had engine running for the first time after taking it out to fix some leaks. It started first time, but it wouldn't stop again! I had
to disconnect the power to the ignition module! Lucky Iit had a connector! 
Any idea fellas? SVA is looming, and I don't think they'll be very impressed with having to remove the bonnet to stop the engine!

i would have thought the problem is with the ignition wiring?

The problem is its worked in the past.
I did some poking about with the multimeter. The switched live, is not geting switched off. If I turn the key to the first or second click (without
starting the engine), and then back again the switched live comes on and then off as it should. If I start the engine, and turn the ignition off, I
still get 12V on the switched live!!!
Any ideas anyone?

Hi Northy,
Know the feeling, comes as quite a shock when an engine doesn't stop.
Your alternator output is still 'feeding' the ignition circuit after you try to kill the engine.
If you have an ignition barrel in it may just be the connections on the back mixed up.
the first time I realised was at Newark show last year in a barely drivable car. No dash or electrics to speak of, I did have a battery isolator
though. Pulled up, jumped out, removed the isolator and starting walking away..... oops. car still ticking away merrily. lean back in and ram it into
gear to stall it and walk away quickly

I've just been playing around with it and it is deffo alternator related. If I unplug the alternator the engine stops as I turn the key off.
With the alternator plugged in, most of the time it doesn't stop, but a few times it does. Is this a faulty alternator? any ideas what I should
try now?
