7" rebuild
Hi lads im after some advice on cost and if its possible to rebuild a Ford 7" diff.
Last year i took mine out of the car and ordered the rebuild kit after it was knocking, but after taking it apart i noticed most of the problem was in
the little spider gears on the inside of the unit and not the bearings which i ordered (i think).
Also i noticed that from under the car i can wiggle the output shafts just at the bolted joint to the driveshafts up and down which isnt helping but
im not sure how to rectify.
Should i just replace the bearings and washers which i now have AND/OR sort the spider gears too? What cost am i looking at for this if done by a
transmission builder?
This is my main winter project so am looking for early advice now so i can order or save some £'s up. Its a Ford 3.62 LSD with bolt on shafts.

Are you sure it was the diff Knocking, not a drive shaft CV as these when worn can knock like bu&&ery. Although I suspect that having replaced
the diff you refitted the drive shafts.
Also, was it a knock from your diff when taking up drive and/or going on/off (drive to over run) the power?????.
Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

mmm nice link, but the problem i feel on my diff is the diff unit, which has small gears that rotate on solid metal pins, there seems to be alot of
play here.
I get knocking on both overrun and taking up drive but the problem which has me thinking its knackered is if i drive down a hill a dip the clutch and
then drive around a corner i get lots more rattling from the rear of the car from the diff.
