Type 9 Gear seclection - help needed please!
Please could someone look at the photo below and tell me the saddle clip is he right way around, and whether or not the reverse detent is correctly
installed?
When I try to select first gear, I'm getting reverse. The gearbox came to me out of the car, so I've no idea if everything is where it
should be!
If everything is there and in the right place, any ideas why I could be getting this problem?

Any and all help much appreciated
Cheers
Adrian

I did modify the gearlever to a quickshift by moving the shaft up the collar, spacing it out with nuts, and sawing some of the rubber away to
compensate. I've now put it back to how it was, with exception of the rubber, and still the same. If anyone has a spare gearlever, I could
always try that I suppose?

Because it's down and across for a type 9 you probably need to space the lever a little more.
When you bolt it down you are probably exerting enough force to defeat the detent.
