My 'blade gearbox is a hillbilly

Gearbox went bang at a recent track day: -

Well, that explains the noise! 3 teeth sat in the sump. My gearbox is the equivalent of this: -

Had it slip out of 3rd a few times during the day - guessing either my Kliktronic actuator had moved and needed readjusting to make sure the gear went "home", or that I've got worn dogs on 3rd and it jumped out of gear because of that. Either way, I suspect it's one too many times going from false-neutral at 12000rpm into gear that it didn't like!

It is an 893. I'll be dismantling it in the next couple of weels to inspect exactly what has been damaged. I do have another part-gearbox so will be seeing whether I can fashion a gearbox with what I have or whether additional parts are required.

slightly off topic but do bike gearboxes last very long or are they prone to exploding?

Sweet damage! Means you have been using you locost to its full. I though bike gear boxes were quite strong.... Higher loads in a car though....

It broke being banged into 3rd gear from false neutral at 12000rpm. Slightly outside design parameters I think :p
