Tell me about Volvo redblocks and gearboxes
Anybody tell me a bit about Volvo redblock engines and gearboxes to suit?
I am looking at buying a very tidy 240 estate for a work runabout, and fitting a later redblock turbo. Don't know what car to get as an engine
donor though!
Obviously a 2.3, but am I right in thinking that post 1993 engines have best internals, but that they are all lpt engines and will be too high
compression for big boost hikes?
Is the m90 gearbox the one I want, and if so what was it fitted to?
Come on volvorsport!

Not sure about engine as I've either owned whiteblock volvos or N/A redblocks. There's a redblock M90 (from 940s) and a whiteblock M90
(from 960s) so you'd want the redblock one
Here's a redblock m90 for sale:

Folks talk about the m90 being rare, but is it not fitted to all post '93 940's with redblocks in?
Really not an expert on these!

In terms of engine, what compression ratio is the 2.3 lpt engine fitted to late redblock 8v 940's?
Do I need to put fpt pistons in or can I use the lpt pistons (all the 940's seem to be lpt engines)
