Dumb Gearbox and Zetec Blacktop questions
Car currently is engineless, am I right in thinking that if I take the gear lever out I should be able to slide the gear box out (forward), leaving
the prop shaft behind? (Obviously it will need something underneath it to stop it hitting the ground)?
Blacktop: Do I need to put a spigot bearing in a BlackTop Zetec?
Cheers

Yes and yes, don't forget to remove the reverse switch or you might break it,at least disconnect it,also be careful of your brake & fuel
lines/wires in the tunnel area.

You do need to change the spigot bearing cant remember witch one you need quick Google search you should find it !
I removed my gear stick an took engine and box out together the prop just stays behind as the box goes forward
Remember depending on angle you take it out the type 9 will drop its oil when you remove the prop ....

You will need to remove the gearlever and the gearbox mounting. The gearbox will then be free to move forward.
The Zetec (blacktop or silvertop) will need a spigot bearing fitted to the end of the crank for a RWD application.

Don't think you need one for mot? But if fitted needs to work etc, that's why you can't find the wires/switch lol.

Cheers for the great info guys!!
Oh and in return you don't need a working reversing light for an MOT, my daily drive's reversing light switch hasn't worked for
years and never an MOT issue!
Cheers
