kent cams FZ2002 identification/ fitting
Can anyone help please, I've recently purchased a pair of used Kent Cams FZ2002 camshafts for my 1800 silvertop. Problem is there are no
markings on them and the seller can't remember which is the inlet and exhaust cam, one has a number 1 on, the other number 2 only other marking
is KC sportcams, the number 1 cam also has a paint stripe around the shaft. Has anyone fitted a pair of these that can point me in the right
direction? Thanks in advance.

Inlet cam should have a somthing for the cam phase sensor to pick up.

sensor pick up
They both have one, could the inlet and exhaust cams be the same but just timed differently, the duration is the same for both inlet and exhaust, as
is the max lift.

Only the inlet had the cam sensor on mine, I think you probably have a pair of inlets, suggest you speak to your retailer, Kent or both. Even though
the lift and durations are the same it does not mean the lobe shape is the same.

kent cams - the official line
I have today spoken to Kent Cams who were very helpful, they too were of the opinion that I had 2 inlet cams, the advice was although it was not best
practice I was able to time the second inlet cam in as an exhaust cam as they are of the same profile. This will cause the obvious problems at
cam-belt change time although I may machine a new slot in the rear for the setting tool once I have timed it all up properly using a dial gauge and
cam timing disk. I already have the timing details. I expected advice of bin them and buy a new pair, but to their credit they were very very good,
and probably saved me about £400.
Thanks to everyone who has posted advice / replies on here. I will be sorting the cam timing out tomorrow and firing it up. I will let you know how it
goes.

Update
After taking further advice I decided to fit the Kent inlet with a standard 2ltr exhaust cam, the logic behind this being that it is the inlet cam
that makes the biggest improvement anyway and the 2ltr exhaust cam is a significant improvement over the 1800 exhaust item it replaces, the two went
in easily retaining the original slot position (as you'd expect) and it has made a massive difference straight away, fuelling appears to not
have altered significantly, however I will look at this more closely when the weather warms up a bit, (fingers so cold I could not operate the laptop
whilst on the move,.... obviously I wasn't driving). Another advantage being that I now have another kent inlet that I will fit to my 2ltr that
I am building up for a swap in the spring, again I will run a standard 2ltr exhaust cam. All in all, it took a little longer than planned, but
I'm dead chuffed with the result.
