1300 x flow, DGAV and Valencia dizzy

A question for anyone who has a 1300 x flow with a DGAV and Valencia distributor. When i have the dizzy fitted I cannot twist it far enough anto clockwise before the vac advance retard unit on the side hits the inlet manifold. i cannot turn the whole unit by 90 degress to try and get over that as the multi connector on the body side appears to get in the way of the manifold. Can I grind the inlet manifold away a bit to allow the dizzy to turn a bit more or run without the vac adv/retard? Anyone had this problem?

Remove dizzy, turn shaft a bit, then refit.

Yep it should be easy to set it up at whatever angle by pulling out the dizzy and rotating. You'll only be limited by the spacing of the helical teeth on the drive gear as far as I remember.

I ran exactly that setup when I first built my locost back in 2002 (yikes 10 years ago!). I had no issues with the distributor except trying the very first start with leads 180degrees out.
