Which clutch?

The concentric clutch slave cylinder and release bearing has been leaking fluid and was making a little pool overnight under the car so I have taken the engine and box out and split them.

The clutch although it still has a bit of life left is going to be replaced along with the pressure plate and slave cylinder.

Now the question is do I fit a Borg and Beck or a LuK three way clutch kit?

Does any one have experience of either with a Ford Zetec SE (Sigma) engine?

The car is used for road and occasional track day use so no racing starts etc and weighs less than half of the donor so
I don't think a competition clutch is needed.

Thanks

Adrian

how much are both options? do you have any plans to upgrade the power

standard genuine ford clutch take 150bhp all day, i ran a helix organic item at 180bhp in mine and now an ap 5 1/4 with 300bhp

There is about £20 between the two choices.

The only upgrades I might do is to de-cat the exhaust, so max power would be about 10bhp over the stock 125bhp.

There is also an option of either plastic or aluminium concentric slave.

Have fitted Borg & Beck ones in the past to tin tops and had no issues

Like you say, your car is half the weight of the car the clutch was designed for

Either as both are quality clutches but my preferance would be LUK

I've purchased a standard clutch for my J15 build - this was £95 from ebay and included the standard slutch, pressure plate and slave cylinder / release bearing.....Even though I'm expecting around 140 - 150 bhp from the puma engine on throttle bodies and a decent exhaust, it only has punt a car along that weighs in at around 500kgs, so should in theory be very under stressed.

Only time will tell, but realistically I would imagine a standard would be more than fine.
