Engine Won't stop!
Hi All
Help.
Been to see some Barnsley lads about making a tank for their big white car today and they have a problem. The car starts on the key first time but
won't shut off on it. You have to pull the battery lead off. What could be the problem. Come on all you auto 'tricians it must be obvious, what
don't they have connected? The engine is a bog std. Sierra Cossie 2wd.

I'm not an auto 'leccy, but they've not connected the coil to a permanant 12V feed have they?
John.

Yeah, thats what I did!
Check that the lead to the coil's not wired 12v permanent.
Cheers
Chris
Note to all: I really don't know when to leave well alone. I tried to get clever with the mods, then when they gave me a lifeline to see the
error of my ways, I tried to incite more trouble via u2u. So now I'm banned, never to return again. They should have done it years ago!

You shouldnt go pulling the battery lead off with the engine running as you can spike the ecu, sounds like a prob round the ignition switch area,so
whats the big white thing or is it a secret?

sounds more than the coil permently wired as a car will run off the alternator if battery is disconnected
does it run smooth still or does it get rough??
u can get a hot spot in the cylinder carbon build up or wrong spark plugs re igniting the air fuel mix
although key should switch off fuel pump as well
there was an after market gizmo for turbo'd cars that kept them runnin till the turbo cooled then switched off the engine
could this have been fitted to the donor and still attached??

Hi Guys
Thanks for the input, just trying to help out some Barnsley boys. The fan aint running so it's not that, the engines cold, so it's not carbon hot
spots. I'll ring 'em tommorrow with the coil info. The big white car in question is the same one you all saw at Donnington (please all you
southerners stop calling it Donny, that's short for Doncaster up here!) that looks like a Panoz. James hicost says he's building one. There's no
website Bob, they've only just got hot and cold running water up there you know! Pics should be in next Which Kit. I was going to take some pics but
the body was off and under wraps and you all know what an MK chassis looks like, even slightly modded! They are definately going to sell kits though,
just waiting for some punters.

Chris
I dont think they will have to wait long for punters,i think the car is what a lot of people have been waiting for.
None of that rice burners in the back or middle, rear wheel drive and eng in the front.
As for donington how about doni or the borderline where sheep shagging ends and the people of nottingham run around in tights

Keep up the good work! I may be going to a Lotus/Caterham 7 meet tommorrow night to keep in practice!!
I passed the thoughts of the list on to the Lads in Barnsley and they were overwhelmed! Yes the coil has a permanent 12v but they don't know from
where. Re-wire looks imminent!
