Universal radiator fans

Hi guys, I need to add a radiator fan to my new rad, the rad is a from a honda civic but I am mounting it at about a 40 degree angle (from vertical) on my off road buggy and also in the opposite configuration from when it was in a car e.g. outlets pointing forwards instead of rearwards. This means that I can't mount anything off the existing radiator mounts.

The radiator is this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/92-00-HONDA-CIVIC-EG-EK-ALUMINUM-RACING-RADIATOR-/400175528173?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d2c51f8ed< br />
I want the fan mounted in pull configuration and have been looking into the universal radiator fans, but they use a zip tie type mounting that goes through the radiator core and some people say that this can rub on the radiator core and cause leaks etc. especially in an off road application.

What are you guys thoughts on this mounting solution, or am I better off building brackets that come from the front of the rad mounting points to the back?

Thanks

Dave

Brackets without a doubt. Far more positive especially for your application and I presume aesthetics is a low priority. If you dont want to put too much strain on the brackets you could always include small rubber bobbins in the mounts for a small amount of flex.

Rather than use an after market fan it might be easier to use an OEM pull through fan

ISTR the Rover SD1 used an 11" pull through fan that is easy to mount and Rimmer Brother have a large stock of them Link to Rimmer Brothers SD1 fan
