Catch Tank Setup

Been noticing some smoke on the overrun, only when really driving hard and coming off the throttle as the revs drop back down to around 4000 RPM. Sitting at lights and driving away and when just revving it hard in neutral I get nothing.

I disconnected the oil catch tank and this sorted it out so I think it could be plumbed in better. It's a vent to atmosphere type with a breather filter but for some strange reason it's at the bottom of the catch tank not the top like most are, at the top there is a screw on cap.

I have 2 silicone hoses coming off the breathers on my silvertop zetec to the catch tank they are not the thickest but I they look OK not drawn in anywhere. There never seems to be any oil in the catch tank but obviously something is not right somewhere.

Does anyone have any ideas as a better way to plumb it in or should I continue using one, I see a lot of guys just stick the breather filter directly over the breather outlets on the engine.
