replacement engine

hi all,
after some advise, son has bought a Dutton to rebuild, has a pinto in it at mo bolted to type 9, we want to change the engine to a smaller one, ie 1300cc ish, any idea on what readily available engines bolt to the type 9 with little or slight mods.

Thanks

Andy

Obvious choice are the 1.3 Crossflow or 1.3 CVH engines. There is/was an extremely rare 1.3 pinto, but I doubt you'd ever be able to find one.

Easiest would be an early 1.3 or 1.4 with distributor on the end of the camshaft, spare bosses on the block need to be drilled and tapped for the engine mounts, offside one needs a bit of ingenuity.
