Oil cooler on pinto help!

Hi,
I finished plumbing in my oil cooler the other day and started to pinto up. The oil seemed to pressurise for a few seconds then blow through/leak through the oil filter seal to the sandwich plate. Ive just taken it apart put it all back together and its just done it again.

It uses the mocal sandwich plate with a built in thermostat. Its almost asif the oil gets into the filter but cant get out do blows the seal.
Im a little stuck and could do with some advice as to whats happened!!

Mark.

Flow is in the wrong direction against the anti-syphon valve in the filter either swap the pipes over or fit a filter without a valve.

Just striiped it apart and dry fitted on a spare block. The oil filter fouls on the pipe unions on the sandwich plate. So as you tighten the filter down it feels tight but it just binding on the flat of the nut.
Is there such thing as a narrower filter for a pinto?

Plenty on filters share the same 3/4unf thread. Try a 190's ford escort CVH filter, or even some VW golf etc will have that thread. Or indeed zetec mondeo/escort etc. Just check the thread!

Wish I could find a catalogue for oil filters with thread and body sizes.....

ok, a wix american one http://www.wixfilters.com/Lookup/Applications.aspx?Section=1

and a fram, where you can sort via thread and body size http://www.sogefifilterdivision.com/catalogues/FO/scripts/cat_rech_forme.php?zone=FR&catalogue=FRAM&lang=GB&famille=L&forme=V&figu re=301

What clifty hanger said.

Take the hollow bought with you to halfords and try it out on their oil filters, assuming they still have them out on the shelves.
