Toyota 4age running with twin Dellortos

I’m looking at a car currently running an 80k mile Toyota red top with twin 45’s

I’m wanting to go with a Zetec

So, is there a market for the engine? Twin carbs? What sort of money approximately would they be worth?

Many thanks
Phil

Big market for the engine, especially the Red Top, you would get around £600 for it i would expect.

The carbs would shift on Ebay pretty easily

One has to ask - why would you want to swap a 4age for a Zetec?

It's a really good engine, basically a rip off of a BDA but the oil tends to stay in it, it'll rev to 8k all day and on 45's it should be well north of 150bhp - oh and it'll sound ace..
I've a gently tweaked one (head and cams) in my Striker, 8.5k, twin 40's, 180bhp.

If you do decide to flog it I may be interested in it simply to have a spare - drop me a note

I have spent ages looking for a 4AGE.
I have finally got one now.
So, I would say yes, there is a market for the engine.
I'd suggest selling it as a complete working package, with carbs, ignition parts and all other bits.
The moment you separate them, you give a potential buyer more work and you devalue the product.
I recently had to abandon buying an otherwise appealing engine due to the number of bits that had been removed and that I would have to source elsewhere - it became not economic.

Having said the above, why change?
The 4AGE is a very desirable engine.
The cost of an engine swap may be a lot higher than you imagine.

If you are selling it in bits, can I buy the bellhousing and clutch parts?

Stick with the 4AGE. Unlike the Zetec it was designed with performance in mind.

Ok, thanks for the reply’s.
I’m just an over thinker. The car is tatty and I’m thinking of the potential for “kit cars” to have to comply with with emissions regs.

The fact the 4AGE is a well respected engine AND it does sound (and look ) nice is a justifiable reason to keep. Are parts readily available?

I suppose I was looking at what the value of this car is

Parts are available, but are getting harder to get hold of at a reasonable cost now.

i got most of my parts when i had mine directly from Toyota as they were usually cheaper than the motor factors and far better quality!
