V8 Injection occasional high tickover temporarily
hello all,
I have a rover v8 with a range rover hotwire injection. its running well now.
what I have noticed is that occasionally at relatively low speeds the revs seem too high: Maybe 1500 (noticeable with no right foot after a period of
faster driving: typically when you come into a village at 30-40 after some b-road driving at higher speeds)
if you blip the throttle, the revs then fall back to approx. 1000 and its fine again.
should I worry about this? what could it be?

I would check for throttle cable binding.
Lubrication or a stronger return spring may cure it.
If cable is fraying inside the sheath, the above may not help much and may lead to early failure.

I had the same on my V8. Stronger return spring sorted it.

Hotwire..so you'll have the 14cux ecu. Idle speed control valve on the back of the plenum can be prone to sticking (can be cleaned) which can
cause exactly what you describe, and number two is the throttle pot worn at the idle area (the ecu uses it for idle, air flow meter at all other
times).
