List of useable engine and g/box combos
Has anyone ever compiled a list of engine and g/box combos that are suitable for 7 type chassis cars?
A list with engine size, power, weight, configuration etc.
I haven't even finished my own Pinto powered project yet and I'm thinking of a post IVA engine swap. Just wondered if someone had compiled
the list to help others that might be facing the dilemma of what works well, easy, works but with loads of work and what doesn't work at all.

Pinto to Duratec is the usual swap as the exhausts are on the same side (drivers), one less thing to bother about, Zetec is on the other. Iirc the
s2000 Honda engine is on that side too plus the Zetec SE.

It's be quicker to make a list of what hasn't been done
Not all chassis are the same in the first place and a lot of options will need some mods (some more extreme than others) but almost anything could be
made to work....
There are less options for gearboxes that will fit easily in most chassis but that doesn't mean much if you use an adaptor to suit the engine of
your choice - maybe a better way to look at it is which engine would you like then find out how much work it would take to fit it...
Most l4 engines should be fairly easy, but l5/l6 engines might be too long to fit easily, similarly some V engines can bit tight (often it's the
heads/cam covers width)
Mind you if all you want it is a high power to weight then maybe bike engines are worth a look
