Anyone Using Kit Car Direct Ingke Plenum ?
Hi guys,
Toying between standard black top inlet and Westfield inlet, need dimensions first, or the kit car direct option
Looming at the kit car direct option, needs injector mounting cutting off original manifold and converting to sandwich plate arrangement.
Throttle body cutting off and adding to end of kit car direct assembly.
But what happens to the idle valve? The cold start fast idle setup etc?

Are you sure you don't mean Gbs / kit spares zetec plenum ?
Yep you chop the runners off and mill it flat. This gives you a sandwich plate for injectors and also acts as a thermal spacer.
It's compact and does the job. Standard Tb just bolts on.
Downside, more than one has reportedly split, especially when boosted.
The oem plastic manifold is unlikely to fit with out mods
My mk just needed a new steering linkage with extra uj's.
Westfield, i don't know of anything they currently make and they rarely come up second hand. Most of the ones I have seen are based on a
silvertop sandwich plate.
Idle control depends on the ecu, set up ect but Gbs do an adapter to use the ford valve. Again ive made my own in different styles.
I would show you some pics but I can't upload them at the moment

Hi Ya,
My issue at present, original intake all fits etc is that from the top of inlet, where the throttle is, to bonnet is 70mm.
The original pipe is 100mm. Other option would be if there is a way I can take off the throttle part, like on the Gbs type and rotate 90 degrees, some
sort of elbow etc.

Westfield still advertise the cross over pipe for the oem zetec manifold.
Making an elbow that works will be harder than it looks if you want the idle valve to work.

I can't remember how tall it is with the silicone link pipe ? You could ask "starterman" if he could measure it for you.

Looks like I might get the Westfield air intake on with 10mm to spare on the bonnet lol I guess all I need to do is fit the standard blacktop MAF at
the end of the intake or remover the sensor from the original ford housing and fit in to the Westfield intake

I take it your planning on having a go with the donor ecu, Use the factory maf in it holder. You can stick a big filter on the maf.

Hi ya,
I managed to fit the Westfield intake. Cut the joint pipe down and I can get fingers between the bonnet and the air intake, happy days lol

Yeah, the parts department where spot on. Ordered Monday, here today. Not exactly cheap but cheaper than the gbs kit lol.
Have a MAF on order. There is a position on the Westfield intake thats blanked off. Will see if the blacktop maf can fit the same position, one less
joint in the intake lol
It only need to be in the airstream un-restricected etc
