Rover/honda engine.
My mate has a rover 416 gsi with the honda 16valve engine in.. What gearbox could be mated to it with extreme ease?? How easy do u reckon itl be
to run the standard ecu ecu??
Hes probably gonna scrap it cos the drive shafts have gone. Seems a shame to waste a bloody good engine!!

Reckon if that engine rotated the right way it would be powering a lot more kitcars by now. Bloody shame really, it's a sweet engine by all
accounts.

only rwd gearbox I can think that goes the wrong way is the Chevrolet Corvair but its setup for a rear engineed car so still of no use. Shame about
those Honda motors.

IIRC from previous comments the 1600GSi engine is actually a honda engine hence spins the wrong way. The Rover K-series engines actually spin the
'right' way.
Of course i may have remembered that wrong...

Honda Engine.
The K series does turn the right way, I fitted one to an MG midget mated to a 5 speed sierra box. This may be of some help.David

K series is a Rover engine, 216Gsi is Honda small block SOHC powered.
Honda had no input in the K engine its roots go back to 3 cylnder test engines that were built during the stokes era at BL.
Engines fittment was roughly as follows
80's 213 and Acclaim Honda 1.3 3 valve
80's 216 BL S series -- a redesigned Maxi engine.
early 90s 216GSI 416GgSi -- Honda SOHC
early 90s 216Gti 416Gti --- Honda tohc
all 214 & 414 Rover K8 and K16
all 220 & 420 Rover T16
late 90s 200 & 400 1.4, 1.6 or 1.8 Rover K16

off topic but the latest Honda engines form the S2000 and the Civic type R go the right way, and are available (in some cases) for the right side of a
grand!
Expect to more usually pay £2000 but still a good engine at this price, 240hp as std is not bad for such a light engine!

PS I know Colbriman has an S2000 engine for a lot more than this but that is totally complete with everything including gearbox and dash etc etc etc
so is worth a lto more, plus its an '03 engine I think!
