pitting on piston - still usable?
I received my pistons for a 1700 crossflow yesterday, and one of them has what looks like the result of detionation on the crown. Part of the top and
side are pitted and uneven, and discoloured, and the very top ring seems to be seized in place at this point, with a crusty brown residue.
I was inteding replacing the rings anyway, but is this piston still usable, or is it a return to sender job?
opinions appreciated!
cheers
Mark
did a little drawing of where the damage is.

yeah I guess if it was just the top I could have them all machined slightly. Am actually really pissed off, as although the guy has offered a refund,
it isnt exactly missable, and cant imagine anyone trying to fit, so wtf was he thinking?
just a bit of a time-waste, but means i can start looking out on ebay again
cheers

There are people who stop looking on ebay. I reckon that ebay should be listed as a class B drug at the very least, very addictive.

the thing with this guy is there is no way he didnt know about the condition of the piston, but hoped whoever bought it wouldnt mind
