Throttle cable Zetec

Hi guys,

I went to the local parts shop this morning to find a sutible throttle cable to fit on my Zetec.
They couldn't help me at all. They had a couple of cables but non of them fits the zetec throttle house.

What type of cable have you used on your Zetec?

I used a mountain bike gear cable for my Zetec on weber 45's. Easier to loop round tight spaces without affecting the cable action.

Ditto, always keep a couple of metres of bike brake cable and a few fittings and make up my own cables.

I used bike gear cable not brake cable. I tried the brake stuff but the loop I had made back into my underslung throttle linkage made the brake cable feel very stiff. The gear cable has a much stiffer outer and is designed to run smoothly when put into tight loops (think about how the rear gear cable loops round into the rear gear mechanism on a bike. Bike gear cable was specifically designed to ensure that "indexing" on bike gears worked under these conditions.

However one thing to note is that bike gear cables and brake cables are both cheaper than car accelerator cable !
