I bought it 2 days ago , not worth the money for the improvements over GT3 which I already have.
So its for sale £26.00 inc P/P . or £25.00 collection........

How can you say that??!! GT3 was GT2 with flash graphics and never really did it for me. GT4 is worth it for the Nurburgring (oh wow!!!!) and photo
mode alone. Not to mention the cars... Caterham, 205 T16, Mac F1, all them 80s le mans things... oh wow!!
Physics seems improved with more weight shifting and instability, especially at high speeds. Having said that there's a slight flavour of
'canned physics' effects in places, but this may be some fudging to make it playable with dual shock pads. Not quite GTR or GPL, but I
really need to try the 900 degree wheel thingy before passing judgement.
They still can't do awesome engine sounds. A field of group B rally cars or old Le Mans racers shouldn't sound like a game of scalextric
with some food blenders nearby. Play GTR on PC for proper sounds. But oh well.
Transfered 100k over from my GT3 save so have the Caterham already!!! You need the race transmission, flywheel and clutch to get the proper bike
engine gearing and shift speed, but it's awesome after that! For some reason it goes up to about 170bhp when you buy it and change the oil???
So more like a Blackbird then. I'm lapping the ring in 8:09 (or about 7:45 bridge to gantry) so quite realistic I think. And that's
taking rather more risk than i might in real life and 'dying' a couple of times a lap! Seems insanely fast - I've been there in
real life in relatively slow stuff, and the speed at which the corners go by in an 8 minute lap is scary. My locost should do that in real life when
it's done - yay.
A long way to go to beat the radical at 7:19 (presumably for a full lap). You can turbo or supercharge the caterham though.
And dont get me started on photo mode!!!! Oh wow!!!

[shameless plug]
bit of a blatant plug since i work for the company that makes it, but on the same day 'GTR' was released which is a PC only FIA GT racing
sim. and i MEAN sim.. proper hardcore physics
so if GT4 is a bit lightweight, give GTR a go. its hard work at first, but satisfying
(AND it got a better review than GT4 in 'edge' magazine )

Oh how does the full GTR compare to the press demo in terms of physics and PC spec?

Is that GTR avaliable over sea's? Thaqt looks like a awsome game (use to play LFS alot too).
BTW Liam, that driving force pro wheel is great! the 900 degree turning is very realistic in GT4. I built a seat for mine too, the wife loves it
Best thing to do for a build....

Does anyone know what happened to the real "crash" effects in the pre-release GT4 or was it just that it got a right slating they took it
out?

I can strongly recomend not getting a new game before/during exams.
The amount if time i could have spent revising instead of playing GTA was ludicrus. Some how I passed them all, not sure how though.

I was a bit annoyed that the Seven Fireblade was unrealistic, ie geared so high(130 in 3rd!!), top speed of ~150mph.
As was mentioned though, once modified it became a lot more 'normal'.
The Nurburgring is excellent. Only got it today, haven't got playing it enough yet.

I think its great, turned off all the driver aids and on normal tyres am now lapping the Nordshleife in an Elise in 8m55s including a couple of
certain serious injuries.
Think the GT4 v GTR debate is a bit over the top, GT4 is a console 'fun' racer allowing you out of all sorts of mishaps, GTR although
I've only played the demo is a serious sim (out of arcade mode anyway) in the mold of GPL, even got goosbumps heading down into Eau Rouge with
16 ferraris screaming around me, 5.1 headphones might have added to the sound stage a bit here though, sound on GT4 is o.k. in surround sound mode,
cant really crank up the surround sound though because I've been playing it mostly at night and have neighbours.
Personally I couldn't say which I prefer, depends on my mood.
For Fun GT4
For F1 stuff GP4
For GT stuff GTR
best would be to be working on me car though

Tried it with a wheel last night! Not the 900 degree but the first GT wheel. OH WOW!!!
Makes me want to go back to the ring like nothing else though! Getting all golds on the first two licences is a great idea too, as now I've
finally got the long downhill run at the ring (with hit-miss-hit) nailed as well as the section after Karusell, which previously was just a blur of
repeated corners!! Woo hoo!!
And oh my god how good is photo mode I've got a memory thingy off ebay so will be able to get them on me pooter and print them out for me
wall!!

Well, it arrived when I was in Germany, have had about 20 mins on it so far, and have to say initial impressions weren't great. I drove a TVR
around the Ring, and when in view mode when you can see the whole car it looked very unrealistic and plasticky. The track looked great, but the car
didn't.
I was also pissed off I can't use my newish Logitech Momo wheel.
Anybody know if the new 900deg GT wheel is also PC compatible, as I rally don't want to have 2 wheels at home, it will look really sad!
Off to the US for a week on Wednesday, and can't spend too much time on it as I'd better spend some with the wife!
Am I right in assuming that a UK PS2 (new slimline) won't work on US (NTSC) TV's? As I've very tempted to take it with me if it
will....

Jasper: Yes the 900 degree wheel works on the computer. I cant remeber how but you can over ride the 900 degree mode if you want. SOmething with
pressing select, L3 and left paddle I think. And no, your UK PS2 wont work over here, you guys have that silly PAL stuff
If I had a device to put it on my computer I have an awsome pic of the Caterham going over a hill and having the drivers side tires off the ground.

Time for the GT3 cheat disk then!
or http://www.cmgsccc.com/ps2/saves/index.php?did=480
I've got two memory cards one with "all my own effort" and one that's cheat mongous for those occasions when you just want to
have a go at anything.
