MercedesBenz engine

Hello there guys!

After a few months of reading locostbuilders forums, google and other various sites i have decided to start building my own car, based on my design. After designing my frame (exept the rear part where the engine and gearbox sits) i have to decide what engine should i use.

After some consideration i decided to use a mercedes benz V8 engine (16V, 4.2-5.6 litre) off a automatic gear box merc. Its light (aluminium block), beacause it was used with a automatic gearbox and off a limo it shouldnt be abused to death, very low bhp/capacity ratio meaning longlivety.

Unfourtenetly there is no way i can find any more data on this type of engine. Google doesent help, i cant find any manuals in local shops (I live in Warsaw, Poland).

Is there any chance you guys could help me out, pics of the engine (i have only seen it from the top, unfourtenetly i didnt have any metering tape to measure it up), maybe some technical data, online manuals etc ?

What do you thing about this unit.

Thank you for all your replys,

Tomas 'berkut'

hi there and welcome to the nut house,i had a look for you and there isnt much on the web, found this tho http://www.mercedesclub.org.uk/news_oct04.html
might be worth a try asking on there.
the further you stray from the well trodden path of ford running gear the harder it will get.
good luck tho
