gear & diff ratios

I am using a standard 4 speed box & 3.89 diff by using a 4.14 diff does the top speed reduce but acclelaration increce and could i copmensate for this using a 5 speed box? thanks

acceleration will increase and top speed reduce for given revs. 5 speed is an option, though heavier than a 4 speed i understand.

ps with the 5 speed the gear stick position will move and you'll need a shorter prop.
