Duratec/MX5 gearbox.
Just thinking allowed,
With the Duratec being a Mazda design originally, does the MX5 bellhousing fit it?

I'm not using a Duratec, I was just following an MX5 the other day and got thinking.
I'm using a proper engine, all steel, 1336cc crossflow screamer on 45s into a SCCR Rocket box, probably throws more fuel down the exhaust with
the Holbay K3a cam than it actually burns and all for 125bhp.

gazza,
i thought a full screamer xflow 1300 should make around 140-5bhp, this is what they used to reach in f1300
Ned.
beware, I've got yellow skin

45s on a 1300 x-flow (or even just 40s) are good ways of turning fuel into noise regardless of how much power you actually get.
Ever measured your mpg gazza?

I've sacrificed a few to allow me to run it on Super and not leaded, there's not much room for inserts with big valves in a crossflow.
Now I'm thinking about it I've probably got the same power as some of the 600cc sportsbikes.

The engine used to manage up to and including 18mpg on a run when it lived in my Mk1 Escort Tarmac car (downhill, with a following wind) but when
pressed hard I could do a tank in when I worked at Gascoigne Wood pit, which was about a 80 mile round trip if I hammered it which worked out at about
9.
It sounded 'kin ace on open trumpets at 8000rpm though, which I liked.
If you want mpg then come down to Rockingham on Wednesday/Thursday when I'll be there with our team for the Ecomarathon. The record currently
stands at 10,705mpg, but we'll be aiming for around 4000 as our budget is at best strained but usually non-existant.

The Duratec is mated to the RX7 Turbo (M50D-R1) 'box in the Ford Ranger/Mazda B2300 pickups.
