V6 Cologne/bellhousing/Type 9 question
Will a Ford V6 (which I want) mate up to a std pinto/type 9 bellhousing (which is what I've currently got)? If not, what mods/parts are
required.

Yes, IIRC all euro Ford engines have the same bellhousing bolt layout.
HOWEVER.......
The fly on the ointment is that V6 engines have a different length input shaft on their gearbox (either shorter or longer, but shorter if the brain
cell is serving me correctly!) which means you will have to get a V6 box, or a spacer made the same thickness as the difference in length and bolt it
between box and bellhousing.
HTH Stu.
Dont just build it.....make it!

Ta, I'll give it a go - I can get a gearbox with it but it's only a 4 speed.

i am using the 2.4 cologne V6 (little bro of 2.9) and it came with a 9 as std.
I wanted to use a 2.9, but all the ones I saw at auction were friggin autos.
As these engines are brothers, I wonder if you got a type 9 from a 2.4 (they are around, but no many) or a 2.9 (are there any manuals?) that it would
fit and save you a whole loada hassle with the shaft....

I have 2.9 v6 with type 9 from a 2.0l the, v6 has a different bell housing and a longer input shaft on the grarbox. I used a bell housing from a
busted v6 box, and had a extension made to fit on the end of the input shaft. The problem without the spacer is that the shaft will not engage the
spigot bearing in the end of the crank. This allows the input shaft to move about and breaks the grarbox in about two weeks,(had this problem first in
a xr4i with 2.0l box).
