ready to start!!
finaly after a years wait im ready to start work on the build! ive convinced my girlfriends dad to give me one off the out buildings on his farm for a
few years! me and my dad are starting work putting a garage door in next weekend. i think im going to build a v6 but im not sure which engine to use,
at the min im thinking a 2.5/3.0 24v alfa v6 mated to a type9 gearbox. what i plan to do is buy a full 2.0 serria and get all the parts i need from
that, then get a alfa engine, bell houseing, ecu, wireing loom, water pump and alty. bolt the engine to the type 9 then decide if i need a bigger
chassis. only thing is do you think a type 9 would be strong enough as i plane on maybe supercharging it in a couple of years??? also is there any
seirras with rear disk brakes or any good cheap convertion kits? also can anyone see any holes in my plane? any help much appreciated. cheers danny

Sierrra rear discs are fairly common - look for the XR4i models.
MNR also do some conversion plated to hang the calipers from if you can't find the right donor.
Personally, I'm going for the Wilwwod Powerlies all round, which are pricier, but a hell of a lot lighter and better than the Sierra items

The XR4I didnt have rear discs it was the XR4x4 2.8 or 2.9 and if you buy one of those you could use the cosworth 24v engine which will bolt up to the
box as the std 2.8 or 2.9 will inc clutch and flywheel should give you 210bhp easy you will need exhaust manifolds made tho as for the type 9 taking a
supercharged app hmmm how long is a piece of string i have known them to fail with the std 24v engine let alone a supercharged one so any thing above
210bhp and i would be looking for a stronger box like the T5

Granada cossie diff is the same size only the output flange and shafts are diff.
I know just put a granada cossie diff in my brothers XR4I that has full cossie running gear he just blew the diff at santa pod lol.
You could always use a granada cossie as the base it will give you the engine axle etc all you will need is the box bell housing flywheel and
clutch
Something worth considering
