by gosh i think i have cracked it
For those of you who have had to endure the endless battle of me and my carbs this may come as some what of a relief. I think i have worked out what
is going on.
I checked the ignition advance and it seemed to be quite advanced at idle. i could not quite work this out as i had not touch the ignition timing.
for those of you who don't know i am running an emerald ECU which has an idle stablisation function. As i had reset the throttle pot this was
kicking in too high and advancing the igniton a further 25degs!! so thus running 37degs of advance at idle!!!
therefor to get it to idle ok i must have had to shut the throttle right down and moved the butterfly too far away from the progression drillings.
then i guess when i come onto the throttle the ignition timing comes back to normal as the stabilisation comes off and the throttle is not opening the
drillings enough for progression (i.e. too weak and no advance to cope with it!).
Good god the time i have spent thinking this through. i hope i will now be able to sort it when i get home!!
Thanks for everyones help
Rupert
