Engine Stutter

Hello,

After getting the bad news last week that my local RR wont do bike carbs I went out with my 'have a go at somthing you know nothing about' attitude today to tweak the fuel mixture on my R1 carbs using advice from the great roumer mill thats called the interweb

Well i did a number of things:

1. tried blocking the air correction hole (right hole on each carb) - this didnt seem to do alot apart from need the mixture turning right in to stop it throwing out white smoke)

2. Adjusted the needles by moving the orange rubber down a bit to get a richer mixure (unblocked the air holes) - this had a much more posative effect in that the pull seem to be slightly better and the exhause note wasnt flat like to was before.

Now after doing this i seem to have created an issue which is effecting the top end of the revs when in first gear in that it stutters continually above 4.5k but doesnt seem to do it in any other gear.

My first thought was fuel starvation but i would have expectied it to do it in all gears if this was the case?

Any suggestions

Cheers

Paul

I reckon a steady 50 - 60mph run to Boggs asap might be the order of the day.

The air hole i have to block off is a middle one - in line with the needle.

Were the rolling road not interested at all?? Surely they could have at least ran it up & told you what was happening, rich/lean etc etc to give you an idea??
