pop pop bang

i not sooo long ago rebuilt the my webber 45s on my pinto and all is now well other than the fact that when she gets really fully hot (say after an hours blat). I get alot of popping and banging down the exhaust.

I am used to a bit of this on the overrun but it has been doing it on very low throttle in third gear.

does anyone know what can cause this? just so i know where to start.

thanks again

Rupert

ps. might be worth saying that the silencer is buggered and there is loads of crap shaking around inside it.

usually a sign of it running too lean, is your manifold gasket damaged? Recently messed with jetting? Carb screws?

the air leak could be the problem. Why does this cause it to pop and bang?

Should all the fuel not be burnt in the chamber?

Thanks for the help
